Homosassa, situated along the banks of the Homosassa River is home to an abundance of wildlife that is sure to keep you in awe, and fishing that will keep your line tight all day long. Enjoy your days kayaking, fishing, scalloping (seasonal), wildlife viewing or just kicked back relaxing in Florida’s natural habitat.
Homosassa is situated along the banks of the Homosassa River and sits between two additional, spring-fed rivers. This fresh, clear water influx gives way to phenomenal fishing where sight-casting reigns supreme. Search for snook, redfish, trout, and even resident juvenile tarpon throughout the network of mangrove islands and oyster bars. During seasonal migrations, large tarpon can be targeted and it is common to have fish in the 150 pound range being caught.
Scalloping is also a favorite pastime when scallop season is in (June through September). The area is also famous for wildlife. 250 species of birds, over 50 species of reptiles and amphibians, and at least 25 different species of mammals including the ever popular manatee!
