the Southern Slam Crew
Captain Carey Gibson
Growing up on the local waterways Carey spent many hours fishing with a true master and well-known bass fisherman, his late father, Larry L Gibson. Looking for more of a challenge, Carey turned to inshore flats fishing and quickly fell in love. After countless years of fishing as a sport, Carey decided to turn his passion for in-shore fishing into a business for others to experience the thrill of catching the famous "Southern Slam" - Trout, Redfish, and Snook.
Carey continuously honed his skills and took every opportunity to fish in-shore and eventually went on to becoming a USCG certified Captain. Shortly after being deemed "Captain Carey Gibson" he started his own charter agency called Southern Slam Outfitters based out of Homosassa, Florida.
Carey was born into a long line fisherman and continues to hold true to the Gibson Legacy. When not guiding clients through the backcountry of Homosassa on fishing charters, Carey can be found fishing with his first mate, his son Hunter and family dog Wesley
Captain Hunter Gibson
The Gibson Legacy continues to live on through Carey's youngest son Hunter who like his father is an avid fisherman. Born into a long line of fishermen, Hunter has spent countless hours on the local waterways fishing with some of what he considers to be the best mentors in the area.
Following in his father's footsteps he became a USCG certified Captain as soon as he was eligible and from that moment on officially became apart of the Southern Slam Outfitters crew.
You can typically find Hunter helping out to coordinate private island trips or running scallop charters during the summer months. After he puts in work at Southern Slam Outfitters you can find him enjoying time with his high school sweetheart Breanna or fishing with his father Carey.
